These directions will walk students through an experiment to determine how food rises. I use sandwhich baggies, vinegar and baking soda to demonstrate how chemical reactions happen, which cause food to rise. These directions are time tested and measurements are the best for varied results. This lesson is especially enjoyed by younger students. I taught it in a Food Science class for 6th graders, but it would be suitable for younger grades as well. If you discuss before and after the experiment, it will fill a 50 minute period.
