This Omega English Product contains a 7 page package on setting and how it helps create conflicts in texts. Included is a 2 page handout that highlights what the reader should be focusing on when trying to identify the various setting of a text and discusses how a character’s surroundings can be a source of stress. The handout contains a scenario and prompting questions. The document can be projected during mini-lessons and note-taking sessions or printed to be used as a handout or poster. In addition, it contains 3 graphic organizers that helps students understand the relationship between setting and the various types of conflicts, as well as identify evidence in the text to support their claims. Two pages of sentence starters that help prompt analysis are included in order to prompt higher level thinking.
