A complete NGSS 5E lesson plan focusing on HS-LS1-3 and HS-ETS1-3 that has students consider how homeostasis is being disrupted when a victim is envenomated. The lesson spans 3-4 weeks and includes embedded videos and Google resources. These resources include guiding/driving questions, phenomena videos, venom discussion questions, a venom study lab activity that has students develop an investigation to test coagulation of simulated human blood by different simulated venom, a toxins in venom research project, a snakebite diagnosis and treatment study activity utilizing snakebite patient records to find trends in data and improve treatment protocols, a toxins and medicine research project and guidelines/rubric for a public service announcement.
