Welcome to my Microsoft Publisher Project on the plant life cycle!! My 2nd graders call it "How Does Your Garden Grow" so I decided to name it that. This is a really fun intro to all things plants. My 2nd graders are amazed with how the plant starts and ends as a seed. In this project, we drew the plant life cycle in Kid Pix Deluxe 4, if you don't have Kid Pix, you should certainly invest in it. It's a great program that introduces many applications that show up in Publisher, Word and PowerPoint. We insert the picture that we drew in Kid Pix onto page 4 of our booklet so the students have some original art work on their project. This unit goes really well with the plant theme that 2nd grade is using for their expeditionary learning project this year. As you can see from the title page, we used Word Art, Clip Art and a text box and we are still on page 1!! Whew, lots of learning going on here, computer and plant wise!! There is also a creative writing component on page 4 when the students tell me what their favorite plant is and why. I love reading their thoughts on these different subjects. I have included websites to help with research as well. I hope that you will consider purchasing this unit. It not only teaches a lot about plants but also give you the skills necessary to set up any booklet in Publisher. Think of it as one of those "Computers for Dummies", not that I am calling anyone a dummy, books. My lessons plans are very detail oriented and specific. Anyone can teach this project, no computer experience required. The curriculum includes detailed lesson plans, a sample of the completed project and a research sheet for students to take notes on. I will be posting projects in Excel, Word and PowerPoint with this plant theme coming soon so you could do a whole school year of plant knowledge if you want. What could be better than that?? Please take a minute to review my previews. You can look at my reviews as well, they are mostly 4's. Happy planting!!
