This activity engages students in building similar towers 1-5. A full set of directions is included. Students then answer questions about the height, surface area, and volume of each tower. From the questions students observe relationships between the tower number and the ratios for height, surface area, and volume.
This is a great lesson for helping students see the relationships between the various ratios. I have used this for years to cover the various topics in only a few days.
The activity gives the students a visual understanding for the relationships.
