Pg. 4-5 Blooming Words! – cut out the petals on page B, write 8 words with “ch” and 8 words with “tch” and glue them to the flowers on page A – You can use your spelling words too!
Pg.6 I See Homophone Spots! - find the matching homophones and color them the same color – use a different color for each matching pair
Pg.7 Illustrations of completed work.
Pg. 8-10 Sequence of Events – copy page A and B back to back, fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted line to form a flap book, read the sentences from our reading selection and put them in order in the way they happened in the story, glue each box under the correct number flap
Pg. 11 Sequence of Events! – a foldable book, it’s your turn to write this week’s story in order
Pg. 12 Illustrations of completed work.
Pg. 13 Proper Nouns! - copy page A and B onto colored paper, cut and fold to form a leopard, write examples of proper nouns on the spot page, cut them out and glue them on to Len the Leopard, the spots can be lightly colored
Pg. 17-20 Write Your Own Folktale! – copy and cut out the cover page, writing pages, and back page, cut them out and staple them at the top to form mini books, have the students choose a folk take to write, more writing papers can be added for advanced writers, students can choose more than one to write, choices are How Octopus Got Her Arms, How Hedgehog Got His Quills, How Snake Got Her Rattles, How Reindeer Got His Antlers

Pg. 22-25 The Morning I Woke Up With Spots! - creative writing and craft project – copy off hands and face on appropriate skin color paper, use construction paper for eyes or color them on, use crayons for nose, mouth, and spots, use yarn for hair – I cut the yellow construction paper smaller to fit nicely on top of the larger purple one I chose
Pg. 26-31 Stripe up Zel Zebra! – a fun High-Frequency Word game – copy off multiple Zel Zebra papers for the folder, each player gets a Zel Zebra page, take turn reading cards placing them on your page and coloring a stripe on Zel for each word your read correctly, lose turns if you choose a hyena card, choose a card you have already read, or read a card incorrectly, winner gets all 8 cards on their paper and 8 stripes on Zel first!
