Happy New Year! This New Year’s-themed packet contains 24 task cards that require students to solve questions for intervals of time. Each task card shows a time on December 31st. Students must solve the task cards by determining how long (hours & minutes) it is from the current time on the task card until midnight on New Year’s Eve. Twelve of the task cards show the current time in digital form and twelve show the current time on an analog clock. Sixteen task cards require calculating time to the nearest five minutes, and six require calculations to the nearest minute.
These task cards can be used:
As a group activity: Post the cards around your room and allow students to move around, completing the questions on one of the provided recording sheets.
As a small group or individual activity: Keep the task cards in a math center for independent practice.
Five recording sheets are provided. The first is a half-page version that allows students to record their answers for all 24 task cards. The second is a half-page version that allows students to choose the 12 task cards they want to complete. The third is a full-page version, providing students with more space to record their work and answers for all 24 task cards. The fourth is a full-page version that allows students to choose the 12 task cards they’d like to complete. The fifth is a full-page version that allows students to record the current time listed on each task card and then show the answers for all 24 task cards.
**Task cards are provided in two versions - color and black & white.**
**Answer key included.**
