This freebie game is used for student practice with antonyms. Students will need a strong understanding of antonyms for this game, as it requires generation of antonyms from memory.
HOW TO PLAY:
Two students are placed together as opponents.
The teacher will call out a word and start a timer (one minute or thirty seconds would work best!)
Students are to write as many antonyms as they can think of on their side of the paper! (Hence, how low can you go on the paper?)
After the time is up, have students look at each other's words. Cross out any same words written. Students get a point for each new word the other doesn't have.
This game showcases:
* Student's basic knowledge of antonyms
* Student's complexity of vocabulary
* Student's ability to generate a range of antonyms
