This Word document is a detailed synopsis of the plot of the How Many Miles to Babylon? in 'Fill in the blanks' format.
Students demonstrate their understanding of the plot by completing the cloze test. It could be used for assessment or for revision. I use this as we are reading the novel. I ask students to work on this task at the end of every section. This is instead of asking them to write their own summary. As a specialist teacher for weaker students, I find this approach a very useful support for those who need scaffolding to help them focus on core plot elements. All students benefit from knowing the story well, before moving on to more complex and challenging activities.
This is an active learning activity that students enjoy. They see it as a fun task.
The solution (11 pages) is also included. This could be used as a revision aid/notes. It is a summary of the novel.
Download the preview file to see the cloze test for the first 8 pages of the novel. Even if you don't purchase this product, it will give you a useful activity with which to begin your study of How Many Miles to Babylon?
