This document contains 24 "tickets" or cards and 3 different answer sheets. Each card has a list of possible strategies students can use to solve a variety of word problems and then a word problem for students solve.
The word problems are intended for students to use a variety of strategies to come to the correct answer. Each of the 24 word problems contain decimals. Within these tickets, students will add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals. Students will also need to create equations with parenthesis.
The three answer sheets can be cut and half and used with each ticket. Each answer sheet has the same list of strategies as seen on the ticket and blocks to show student work. One answer sheet has three strategy blocks, one answer sheet has two strategy blocks and the final answer sheet has one strategy block with a spot to include key facts from the word problem.
These tickets are great for math centers. I use them as a weekly math center and students are asked to find one, two or three different ways to get to the same answer depending on their level. Each ticket can be cut so it looks more like ticket and not a worksheet with more word problems. I have also included a blank sheet of tickets for teachers to create their own word problems as needed.
These cards are great for teaching/reinforcing the concept of solving word problems by using different strategies.
Please be on the look out for these same type of tickets for fractions and whole numbers.
