In this activity, students use operations with decimals to calculate how much money they will save by making the choice not to smoke. They calculate how much money they would be spending from the age of 15 to 45 if they did choose to smoke. They then figure out how long it would take to make the money to pay for those cigarettes. Finally, students create a poster of what they would purchase with the money that is not going to cigarettes. The numbers are actually quite shocking!
