Exactly what does one million look like? In this whimsical (and slightly mind-boggling) presentation, I have represented numbers with dollar bills and dollar signs. I was inspired by David M. Schwarz's How Much is a Million.
Included are 100, 1000, 1 million, 1 billion, and 100 billion, as well as estimations on how long it would take to count to those numbers. There are several science questions at the end, as well. And yes, there are over a million dollars represented on these slides. Whew!
The entire presentation is 5:29 minutes long, but you may pause it at any point to facilitate discussion. Mathematical calculations are provided, but they can be removed if you'd like students to figure out this math on their own.
