With all the terrific turkey books that I read to my class each year, I decided that it would be EXTRA fun to have my students write their own turkey stories! I LOVE how creative and clever their stories can be! And, they get to practice using their transition words... first, next, then, last!
This set includes the following materials...
Graphic Organizers - There are 3 graphic organizers to help your students plan out the sequences of their story (one for drawing pictures, one with pictures and words, and another with only text which can be used for the first draft).
Other Ways To Say "Went" Brainstorming Page - As a class, brainstorm words that students can use to describe how their turkey moves from one place to another. Does it zip, zoom or sprint? What about tip-toeing or sneaking? As you brainstorm, write the words on the board or Smart Board and have your students write the words on their paper.
Book Cover and Writing Pages - There are several pages included to use for your student's final drafts. Choose the ones you like and copy them together with the book cover.
Turkey Page - When ready to illustrate, I always have my students draw their pictures first. Then, they add the turkey running through the scene by cutting out the provided turkeys and gluing them onto the page. So cute!!!
