This is a fun-filled set of activities that cover Common Core Writing Standards and Listening & Speaking Standards. The activities involve your students creating a leprechaun trap at home with their families, orally presenting the trap in class, and either writing an informative piece on “How To Build A Leprechaun Trap,” or a narrative piece on the steps they took to build their traps.
Included in this bundle, you will find:
A family project letter to send home with your students for them to create a leprechaun trap. They will present this in class.
A grading rubric for the oral presentation (depending on grade level, the teacher can guide the presentation by asking questions.
-TWO writing activity choices:
INFORMATIVE WRITING: As a class, you can discuss the steps to build a leprechaun trap using materials within the classroom. Then as a class, write a “How To” piece on how you will build it.
A graphic organizer for students to include the materials used for their traps, and sections to write what they did first, next, then, and last, to build their traps.
*This narrative writing will work best if your students have already built their traps, and can then recall the order of events involved in making their trap. This can be done in class with guidance from the teacher.
-Fun writing paper to put it all together into a paragraph.
