What educators are saying

My students LOVED planning a trap for catching an elf after listening to me read the book aloud. I also loved the craft aspect of this. An excellent holiday writing activity!

This unit inspired by the book How to Catch an Elf is a fun and engaging procedural writing unit and craftivity during the Christmas season. Through reading the book, students become inspired to set their own elf trap. This integrated How to Catch an Elf project includes a craft, a how-to writing unit, an at home STEM project creating the elf trap, and it's all displayed on a bulletin board.

- Elf face craft

After reading aloud the book, students design their own elf trap. The elf trap can then be made at home as an at-home STEM project. In class, students continue to work on writing their how-to unit. The procedural writing can then be displayed on a class bulletin board with the elf craft and writing.

The preview includes narratives on what's included in the unit as well as the at home parent letter and directions for the craft. Please contact me with any questions before purchasing.
