Why It's Special
What makes the program special is that anyone can follow the easy directions, use the materials provided, and teach a child to read.
How It Works
The program begins with teaching the short vowels and giving a firm foundation of these sounds. Then, consonants are introduced to the short vowels beginning with the most common. Vowel-consonant patterns are taught followed by consonant-vowel-consonant patterns. In a few short weeks an average student will be reading sentences within the program.
Each new letter has flash cards and activities to reinforce learning. Each new sound is then practiced through vocabulary lists. These are all combined into sentences the student can read. Each lesson builds on the previous one.
After the short vowels and consonants are learned, the long vowels, silent e, blends, digraphs and dipthongs are taught. Each is introduced separately, with flash cards, vocabulary lists, teaching activities, reinforcements, games and guidelines for evaluations and rewards.
Why It's Successful
The program is tailored to fit any type of learner from the gifted and talented learner to the special needs or English as a second language child. The excessive activities, reinforcements, reviews and evaluation guidelines make it successful for all.
