It's social media, it's their world (sometimes obsessively so), and this resource gets students engaged, focused, and more than ready to share their opinions!
The resource is largely based around an in-depth newspaper article which is read in four parts. The lesson stops at strategic points for vocabulary checks, feedback, opinions, and writing activities.
At 11 pages long this is an entire lesson in itself. We studied this over a block period (1.5 hours) and time flew.
Engage students in things they're passionate about, whether we share their passions or not! This article gets them thinking critically and persuasively (and sometimes defensively :-)!
