This classwide story explains the truine brain model in child friendly language with fantastic accompanying pictures. Students will learn about the three parts of the brain and their functions as well as how each part of the brain influences behaviour. Students will learn about the reptilian brain (dinosaur), limbic system (watchdog) and neocortex (wise old owl). This book is a great introduction to self-regulation strategies. In addition, it reduces the stigma attached to inappropriate behaviour and encourages students to seek out ways to calm their minds and bodies. It can be printed for classwide read alouds, presented on an Interactive Whiteboard as a slideshow, printed and collated as a book for school or home reading.
