PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Since this is my first year teaching 1st grade, I have been looking for various behavior management strategies and techniques that teachers use. I am in an ICT classroom of 31 students, so it can get a bit chatty and some of the management ideas I have tried implementing so far have not worked. This is a great way for your students to have a concrete idea of how they are doing and a visual for some of your learners that will need that reinforcement. The colorful smileys come two on a page, you should make as many copies for either whole class or individual students that you feel would benefit from having a behavior management chart implemented at their desk. Laminate the copies, and cut out the smileys. I used velcro to attach them onto the solid colors. Students will always start with all of their smileys. When a student is off-task or not following instructions, you remove a smiley. This way, the student knows that they need to do better and they have a few more chances to do so. If a students stays on green, which means they did not have any smileys removed for the day, they can pick a reward from the prize bin.
* Be advised that this will take you a bit of time to create if you have multiple students, however, it really is working in my case and that is why I am recommending it to others.
You can then send home the "How am I doing today?" weekly charts, where parents can sign daily to monitor their students' progress. I hope you all enjoy it and please let me know if this works for you! Happy teaching! :)
