I handed this out at parent teacher conferences this year. I feel like writing is the subject parents struggle most with in terms of helping their child. Each year I find it hard to tell parents exactly how to help their child write in kindergarten. I found it helpful to sit down and type the progression and lay it out visually. This way parents can see concrete ways to support the work we do in school. After a student masters a step, they move on to the next. It aligns with our narrative writing progression. Hope its helpful! My parents gave me good feedback on this. It helps if you can sit down and talk about it with them rather than just send it home.
