How humour happens - humor techniques presented and analysed
Product Description
This product consists of 101 slides describing and explaining a range of techniques which make comedy from the use of surprise in overthrow of expectations and anti-climax to irony, satire and parody. Comic creation of character is also featured together with treatments of caricature and stereotype. I made this for my year 11s when I found that they had difficulty unpacking inferred meaning which is a key element of the making of humour. Each type of humor is presented, defined and carefully explained with the aim of providing an example of a method whereby students can articulate the reasons why a thing is funny, absurd, contradictory or whimsical. There is a project suggestion to allow learners to practice acquired skills and printable notes are provided.
