This activity allows students to draw and label certain aspects of plant/animal cells and certain aspects of a chicken egg. There is then a section for matching parts of a cell with parts of a chicken egg that the students feel are both similar. Students must then justify two of their matches and explain why they feel the two "parts" are similar.
I teach Life Science in middle school and we cover cells at the beginning of the year. I then use extra time at the end of the year to do a chick hatching unit with my students. This activity serves as a nice review of cells and it also allows a nice way to tie in our enrichment unit with some of our state standards.
