### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I made this to email parents how we teach all 4 operations in my primary school. It includes visual examples of how addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are taught. There are 14 pages and these are the different stages I include along with examples of mental strategies pupils will need to learn.

Addition = Stage 1 – Drawing objects in a group, Stage 2 – Marked number line or beads strings, Stage 3 – Unmarked number line, Stage 4 - Partitioning, Stage 5 – Expanded method in columns, Stage 6 – Column method

Subtraction = Stage 1 – Drawing Objects & crossing out, Stage 2 – Using a marked number line, Stage 3 – Using an unmarked number line, Stage 4 – Partitioning, Stage 5 – Expanded layout (leading onto column method), Stage 6 – Column method

Multiplication = Stage 1 – Continual addition of groups/steps of same size, Stage 2 – Arrays (leads to area method), Stage 3 – Mental multiplication using partitioning, Stage 4 – The Grid Method, Stage 5 – Expanded Short Multiplication, Stage 6 – Short Multiplication, Stage 7 – TU by TU (grid method and column method)

Division = Stage 1 - Sharing, Stage 2 – Grouping or continual subtraction, Stage 3 – Division of TU by U using a number line , Stage 4 – Short division of TU by U, Stage 5 – Written recording of chunking, Stage 6 – Expanded chunking method, Stage 7 – Final method (also known as ‘Bus stop’)
