This writing activity is such a fun way to teach/reinforce persuasive writing techniques, as well as the skill of identifying and using textual evidence as support in writing. My students LOVE this lesson and it is always the highlight of the holiday season.
This product is a "PRINT and TEACH" product. The lesson plan is even included! The lesson requires students to choose whether they think the Grinch is malicious or just misunderstood. Once they take a side, they watch the video (or read the book) and collect evidence to support their opinion. A graphic organizer is provided for note taking and for organizing essays. When students are ready to write their essays, "Grinchy" lined paper is provided.
A RACES graphic organizer is included to help teachers differentiate the lesson for students. It can also be used if your students are not quite ready for the essay and need to focus on how to write a constructive response.
Extension activity ideas are also provided with this product. Product is created in WORD so teacher can easily edit for easy differentiation.
