Vocabulary Cards: I like to use this as a group activity where students have to create a poster for the book that we will eventually read. They cut out vocab word and glue definition next to it. Then I take a sheet of copy paper and cut it into fourths. One piece for each word, which they will draw a picture for each vocab word to also glue down. Don’t feel like creating a poster, you can also use this for a quick review before the read aloud. I leave on my bulletin board for the duration of the book lessons.
Before you read questions: I like to use this for morning work the day I plan to read the story to the class. It builds background knowledge and sets the mood for the story.
Comprehension Questions: This works great for sub packets, or for keeping together as a book study packet. I have had student s work as a team to discuss and answer the questions.
Compare and Contrast Cut-and- Paste – This should not be ran front/back, since it is a cut out activity. Have students cut out each box and glue into each category. The boxes are two students per page. You can also brainstorm more entries to hand write in.
AR Printable cards to give students book level, and quiz number quickly for testing. I like to write the quiz numbers down to my read aloud if students do comprehension work, they deserve to take a quick test to check comprehension. So, with that being said…. Print off the cards and tape to your classroom computers so the students can quickly access the Accelerated Reader program! I have done the work for you!
