I use this anchor chart to give students a reminder about when to double the consonant that comes before a suffix. Enjoy! ♡
P.S. If you laminate this one or put it in a plastic sleeve, you can show with a whiteboard marker how the vowel in the ending can only hop over one consonant. If the consonant is doubled, the vowel power arrow ~dramatically~ drops down between the two consonants, keeping the first vowel short.
