Students often have no idea what to look for in a text when they read and annotate. This handy reference sheet for students helps them look for how authors develop characterization, conflict, theme, central idea, mood, and perspective. Being able to identify that an author is using character change to develop theme, for example, helps students more productively describe an author's task and purpose, and most importantly, gives them purpose for reading and annotating.
The reference sheet aligns with multiple Common Core anchor standards for reading and gives students the vocabulary to analyze texts and how they are written.
It is included in full color and in black and white for your printing needs.
