Every teacher wants to be the very best they can be. And yet, year after year students show up who we feel called to try to help, but find ourselves at a loss with. Furthermore, research shows that teachers tend to have both distorted and inflated pictures of themselves and their classroom effectiveness in general.
In this short presentation, I explore how some of those distortions show up, what we might do to bring them clearly into focus, and then begin to compassionately address them. I also offer some ideas about how we might begin to be effective with some of our most challenging students.
