Hey! This is a really quick introduction to making simple yet fun and useful flipped classroom homework videos.
I run a flipped classroom and I have found this model of teaching to be SO successful and useful! A "flipped classroom" is a classroom in which some or all of your lectures happen online after the school day has ended. I just love this - it allows my students to take notes and take in information at their own pace, while also sharpening their note taking skills. It has helped my students to become much more interested in the course material as well as becoming more active participants in their own academic lives.
Now, the BEST part about using a flipped classroom model is all of the extra time in class it gives you! Because I give almost all of my lectures as homework assignments (about two 5-10 minute videos plus note taking assigned per week), we've been able to more than triple the amount of activities, labs, projects, and field trips we are able to complete. This makes for a classroom that is lively and exciting, and students that are super-engaged because (1) they don't feel burned out over the course material, and (2), they know that there will always be something fun and engaging happening in the class!
I hope that you enjoy this video and that it helps out a little bit when learning to make flipped classroom videos.
I will soon be uploading an 11-week unit plan for Human Anatomy at the MS level that is designed for the flipped classroom. It will include a day-by-day plan, PPTs for the base of FC videos, classroom activities, labs, and projects, as well as homework, study materials, tests, study guides, and more! Very exciting, so look out for that!
As always, feedback / ratings are very much appreciated.
