Before a student can learn to compare/contrast, they need to master describing. This graphic organizer helps students brainstorms way to describe.
Ways to use this in your classroom:
-- Give each student a 'secret object'. Each student fills out the graphic organizer for their object and then reads the description to the class. The rest of the class tries to guess the secret object!
-- Students fill out two graphic organizers, one each for two different items. (I like to do this with two different candies!). Then use the graphic organizers to help compare/contrast the two items.
