Our students’ communication needs and abilities vary so much! Fortunately, there a lot of apps out there for alternative and augmented communication (AAC). Unfortunately, it can be VERY hard to decide which one to use! I have created this resource to help you compare the merits of apps that you try.
Simply print out one page per app that you are going to try. Then as you look through the app, check off the boxes according to the various features that app has. Add up the points for each box you checked and you will have a total score for that app. You may need to change the point values to reflect the features that are most important for your student. Compare all the apps according to total score.
In this product, you will also get a comparison chart of all the apps that I tried for one of my students. On it, you will find the names of some communication apps to get you started.
I created this for a class that I took for my certificate in Assistive Technology. I hope you find it useful.
