Product Description
Teaching my students how to find library books has been a daunting task. This year, I compared our library to a town made of different neighborhoods. With this analogy, the light bulbs clicked on -- they GOT it! (and WOW! What a difference this has made in their level of independence!)

I've created three versions of this lesson plan. There are two pdfs, with slightly modified content and language for our primary (1st-2nd) and intermediate (3rd-5th) level students. For example, Melvil Dewey is mentioned in the intermediate presentation, but not in the lower one. The 3rd-5th version includes two exit slips.

The third file is a PowerPoint file with editable text fields. I know that you may want to tweak some of my words, to customize the file to fit you students needs. With the editable file, you can do that!

I hope you'll let me know how this presentation works out for you, and if you'd like to see any modifications. I'm always eager to hear how other librarians teach these lesson to their students!
