Have fun making leprechaun traps and inspiring children to write! We make these traps at the beginning of March, and they inspire all kinds of reading and writing!
Collect boxes, and paint them with green tempera. Buy some sparkly clovers and coins from the dollar store and give the children yarn and construction paper. Read a few leprechaun books and let the students start creating! We put these out on March 16, and on St. Patrick’s Day, we come into the classroom and
find that they have been tampered with! The leprechauns may not be caught, but
they do leave some chocolate coins!
This writing activity is great for beginning writers. Simply brainstorm
materials that have been used, and list the steps to make a Leprechaun Trap.
