This packet is fun and exciting for kids. It's best used when talking about transitional words and phrases.
I have the students each write their own "How to Make a PB & J". Next, I put them in groups of 3-4 and have them read each other writing. They talk about the things they all liked in each others writing. Then, they pick one student's writing that they would like to submit. I do allow the group to make some changes as a group and turn in. I then have one student from the group read me their "How to...". I make the sandwich just as they tell me to. I only follow the directions they have written down.
I do this for each group and allow the students to go back and change some of their writing to hopefully have me make the perfect PB & J.
This is fun and the kids love how silly I get when I follow their directions exactly!
You will need 1-2 loaves of bread and 1 jar of PB and 1 jar of jelly.
