How to Organize Your Palette: “Palette Do’s and Don’ts” helps students learn the correct way to organize a palette.
Unless guided to arrange paint carefully, most students automatically pour large quantities of paint, whether they need it or not. Typically they spread paint all
over the palette, not leaving enough space to mix colors.
To prevent this problem, I use these images in two ways.
1. I place these signs near the paint serving section in my art classroom.
2. I include the images in a Powerpoint when I introduce each painting lesson.
Once students are trained, the posters serve as positive reminders of the correct way to set up a palette.
