On those last long days of school this is a great activity that will get them excited. They will have the opportunity to share with your class in September their words of wisdom in a unique way.
The How to Survive book, is an ABC book, it allows your student to write their advice and experiences down. This can be something they learned and wished they learned earlier about you or being in that grade. They can choose which letter to start with or you can assign them a letter. This can be challenging but allow them to be creative with it. Of course some will finish early so they can write a second (or third) page. I strongly encourage you to write and illustrate one page yourself. My class did an amazing job last year; it was a beautiful tribute to them. I made a copy for each of them and copied it for my class next year. The original found its way into my portfolio, principals love this.
BONUS: There is a bonus activity! The teacher report card-It is another grade end of the year project. Create your own rubric or use the one provided. Allow your students the opportunity to grade your achievements this year.
They can grade you on specific criteria and then create their own. It is so interesting to see what they come up with!
Of course there is always the chance for a poor grade, but they need to support their grading, as well as, write recommendations on how you can improve. Talk about an EXIT card or Evaluation. Who knows you better than your kiddos?!
I hope you enjoy these end of the year activities as much as I have. – Colleen
