How to Take Useful Notes

How to Take Useful Notes is a resource for teaching or reminding students of good note taking habits and how to study for tests. One way to engage students is to have them read these tips and put a star next to the ones they already do and an x next to ones they disagree with. Then discuss the tips. Listen more than you speak. It will give you insight into your students and help you  find ways to encourage them to take better notes that they can use to study. Be sure to praise them for the strategies they are already using. Encourage them to give further tips to their peers as to how they use similar strategies. So often we expect students to know HOW to use their notes to study, but we have not taken the time to teach them how. I included a bonus page with a checklist for studying.
