Product Description
Teaching children speech sounds at home can be extremely effective and easy. Only you are able to be with your child every day. Daily interaction and stimulation is what it takes for speech and language skills to develop and for progress to soar. This can be the most rewarding and valuable time you spend with your child. Better Speech, Language and Social Communication are truly the best gifts any parent can give their child.

Besides just learning how to say sounds properly there is a strong connection between good speech and early reading and writing skills – phonological awareness. Sound awareness plays a vital role in the early years and is a reliable predictor of literacy development. Children with good phonological skills have a huge advantage when learning to read. If children go for too long saying sounds incorrectly it affects their ability to listen to and tell the difference between sounds. Good speech means a better start for reading and writing skills.

It is common for children to have difficulty with the Th sound. Th typically develops between 4 1/2 and 7 years of age for girls and up to 8 years of age for boys.

In my experience as a Speech-Language Therapist I have found that working on speech sounds, even individual sounds such as Th can have a big impact on a child’s speech. Words become easier to understand, children become more confident and frustration is reduced for everyone. I often work with children on the Th sound starting at 8 years of age or sooner if the trouble is causing them to be harder to understand and especially if it is causing them frustration.

Working on Th sounds is often fairly easy and straightforward and if the right steps are followed it is something that can be done at home in just a few minutes each day. This guide will help parents decide if they need to work on Th sounds and provides step-by-step ideas to work on the the Th sound.

Included in this program:
- Th Assessment
- Indirect Therapy Ideas
- How to Establish Th
- Direct Therapy Ideas
- Game Ideas
- 96 printable Picture Cards for working on both kinds of Th sounds in all of the different positions in words.
- And more.

While all of the ideas and materials are based on my 23 years of experience working with children and families as a Speech-Language Pathologist, they are just a guide. They cannot replace therapy with or an assessment by a Speech-Language Pathologist or any other professional.
