Product Description
Correcting the V sound at home can be extremely effective and easy. Only you are able to be with your child every day. Daily interaction and stimulation is what it takes for speech and language skills to develop and for progress to soar. This can be the most rewarding and valuable time you spend with your child. Better Speech, Language and Social Communication is truly the best gift any parent can give their child.

Besides just learning how to say sounds properly there is a strong connection between good speech and early reading and writing skills – phonological awareness. Sound awareness plays a vital role in the early years and is a reliable predictor of literacy development. Children with good phonological skills have a huge advantage when learning to read. If children go for too long saying sounds incorrectly it affects their ability to listen to and tell the difference between sounds. Good speech means better reading and writing skills.

It is fairly common for young children to have some difficulty with the V sound. V typically develops for both boys and girls between 4 and 5 1/2 years of age.

In my 23 years of experience as a Speech-Language Therapist I have found that working on speech sounds, even individual sounds such as V can have a big impact on a child’s speech. Words become easier to understand, children become more confident and frustration is reduced for everyone. I often work with children on the V sound starting at 5 1/2 or sooner if the trouble is causing them to be harder to understand and especially if it is causing them frustration.

Working on V sounds is often easy and straightforward and if the right steps are followed it is something that can be done at home in just a few minutes each day. This guide will help parents decide if they need to work on V sounds and provides a complete step by step therapy program.

Included in this booklet:
