After, literally, decades of being told the importance of teaching young children Sol-Feg and finding no acceptable, sequential teaching method for doing this; I created my own. Developed over the course of 1 1/2 years, classroom tested, modified many, many times, and just updated for distribution on this site, I think this is my best creative work yet in the field of Elementary Music Education. It employs the children's ears first and develops the basic understanding of size pitch relationship before visuals are used. Contrary to some educators, I believe and have anecdotal evidence that children can be taught at an early age to recognize standard music symbols shortly after a concept has been introduced using iconic representation. Think letters and reading...we don't keep our young readers using pictures for years on end. The full version has 58 slides and introduces High/Low, Sol-Mi, La, and Do.
