How to Teach the Research Report
The research report is one of the most difficult lessons for teachers to teach and one of the most difficult lessons for students to learn. Completing one takes a great deal of time, patience, skill, and confidence.
The goal of this book is to take as much of the pain out of completing a research report as possible, both for the student and the teacher.
Start simple. Teach the entire writing process within a series of one-paragraph research reports. Guide the students, step-by-step, until the process is mastered. In less than two weeks, the students will be ready to transition to much longer reports. This time, they will be confident in their abilities to complete the project. Also, the teacher will feel better, knowing that her class has been well prepared to complete the task.
