Here is a great resource which will guide your students from writing a lead to a conclusion. This resource may be used as a powerpoint or handouts. Use some of the pages or use for a two or more day period of time giving students opportunities to pair share for understanding and drafting their own work.
You may want to show all slides in one day, then repeat the slides more slowly and allow for individual or small group work.
This is an especially great product for students who are just learning or sharpening their persuasive writing skills, or for any middle school student (especially if students are currently reading The Giver, or have already read it).
An option is for students to take notes while they read and discover the story in anticipation for this writing piece.
