This is a step-by-step worksheet to teach students how to write a five-paragraph expository essay. I've used versions of it for the past four years to teach students who can already write one-paragraph essays how to advance to the five-paragraph model. This worksheet shows students what to include in every single sentence of a five-paragraph essay. It can be used for any expository essay topic. I have used it successfully at the end of literature units on The Chosen and The Merchant of Venice to help my students write essays on both literary works.
