I designed this resource to help my 2nd grade students with editing their narrative how-to paragraphs in class. I felt like my students needed more accountability in their writing process, and creating this rubric in kid-friendly language allowed them to be accountable and do just that!
I had students use this resource after writing their how-to paragraph. Once they felt like they were done writing, they would use the rubric to check their work. Students would go back, edit/revise, and then switch with a partner to see how many errors they caught using their own editing self-check.
I used this rubric as an extra piece of data to support the editing/conventions grade each student received after turing in their how-to writing.
