  1. List the general functions of each type of body membranes and compare the structure of each.
  2. Identify the general characteristics and major functions of the skin.
  3. Describe the structure of the layers of the skin.
  4. Compare and contrast accessory skin structures and layers of the skin.
  5. Describe the factors that determine skin color and describe the function of melanin.
  6. Describe how skin helps regulate body temperature.
  7. Differentiate between 1st , 2nd, and 3rd degree burns and treatment for each.
  8. Explain the importance of the “Rule of Nines”.
  9. Summarize the characteristics of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma.
  10. List examples of integumentary system aging.

  1. Discuss the role of the skin in protecting the body and maintaining homeostasis.
  2. Read documented case studies and solve clinical application scenarios related to skin diseases and conditions.
