This is a 2-page document created in Word. It is an open notes format which enables the teacher to deliver a great deal of information while keeping the student engaged without having to take copious notes by hand. I use a projector or Promethean board to project the document onto a screen or whiteboard. The students have a blank copy of the notes while the teacher uses the KEY (which is included) to fill in the blanks. However, a projector is not necessary to provide the fill-ins for the students. There is also a full-color depiction of the external human heart that shows dying heart muscle, and a black and white depiction of the external heart that can be labeled with correct anatomical structures.
I usually use open notes or a PPT to introduce a new unit of study. However, when using open notes, I always give the students a graded assignment to complete based on the open notes. This keeps them engaged and encourages them to complete the notes. The assignment "Human Heart Open Notes W.S." fulfills this need and is available separately:).
