If you want your students to get more practice with graphing polar coordinates, get immediate feedback, remember what they learned, and have fun doing it, then you have found the right activity! Your students will actually become points on a polar graph. Create a giant polar graph (instructions included). Then, give each student their own list of points. All students walk to their first location at the same time, and the class creates a shape. It is simple to see who is in a place that they don’t belong. This is one of my absolute favorite activities each year… and it is a student favorite, as well. Students really learn from doing this, and it is a wonderful, welcomed change from worksheets!
Materials needed: permanent marker, string, pencil, protractor, painter's plastic.
