This is an assignment that will encompass any human rights, contemporary issues class, or even history. I know Billy Joel's song, "We Didn't Start The Fire" is often used in US History (Cold War) but I used it for my contemporary issues class. Basically I would like students to see that like Billy Joel's generation growing up inherited problems from the Cold War, our students our growing up to inherit the problems of people around the world as violations of Human Rights are happening all around them.
This assignment will allow students to examine and identify the span of Human RIghts issues across history: any period, anyone, any where. With purchase you get the assignment, an example (with 15 slides) that is an animated powerpoint. I used "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes as an instrumental background.
Each slide has lyrics to the song "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes that I wrote myself. I used only a few places/violations as Human RIghts as an example. I wanted students to have an idea of where this assignment could take them. The slides are equipped with the lyrics, music that spans across the slides, and images. Please note: There is no rubric as I used a district assessment and could not include that in here. I do allow you to have the assignment on word so that it could be modified or changed to suit your needs.
*Powerpoint may also be changed, You can change music, lyrics, etc.
Please message with any questions.
