Use this "Human Scavenger Hunt" as an icebreaker at the beginning of the school year. During this activity, students are required to respond to a series of unique questions and then seek out fellow students who share similar qualities or interests. I've used this activity at the beginning of the school year in my classes as well as our school's Peer Mentoring club, where students across different grade levels interacted. The time limit is up to you, but I've found that in a class of twenty students or so, thirty minutes is good. Students of all ages always enjoy this, so sometimes, I will give them more time. Their favorite parts of this activity are displaying their ability to curl their tongues and list the fifty states in alphabetical order. Student have also commented that they enjoy that the list is not "generic".
