PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I created this product to use at the end of the year to reinforce patterns in the hundreds chart. The activities in this product include:

- Finding numbers that are 10 less, 10 more, 1 less, and 1 more than a given number
- A template to print and cut out to help students who are having difficulty with the skill
- Hundreds chart (0-100 AND 100-200)
- Worksheets that encourage students to add and subtract multiples of 10 from a two-digit number

These activities come in 2 levels to differentiate independent practice. The lower level encourages students to explore numbers between 0 and 100. At this level, students add and subtract multiples of 10 from two-digit numbers. The higher level encourages students to explore numbers between 100 and 200. At this level, students add and subtract multiples of 10 from three-digit numbers.

This product addresses the following 3 math standards in 1st grade:

- 1.NBT.C.4 Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between adding and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten.

- 1.NBT.C.5 Given a two-digit number, mentally find 10 more or 10 less than the number, without having to count; explain the reasoning used.

- 1.NBT.C.6 Subtract multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 from multiples of 10 in the range 10-90 (positive or zero differences), using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
